Poodles come in three size varieties: Standards should be more than 15 inches tall at the shoulder; Miniatures are 15 inches or under; Toys stand no more than 10 inches. All three varieties have the same build and proportions. At dog shows, Poodles are usually seen in the elaborate Continental clip. Most pet owners prefer the simpler Sporting clip, in which the coat is shorn to follow the outline of the squarely built, smoothly muscled body.  Forget any preconceived notions about Poodles you may have: Poodles are eager, athletic, and wickedly smart dogs of remarkable versatility.

Toy Poodles are tiny dogs with lots of personality. Poodles make great pets since they are intelligent, goofy, and hypoallergenic. They are easy to integrate into family life, and Toy Poodles are very cute and cuddly. With the right training and early socialization, they can be very well-behaved with good manners and a sunny disposition. If you have allergies or sensitivities to pet dander, consider how great life can be with a Toy Poodle to call your own. Perfect for a small apartment or carrying in luxury purses. One of the great things about the Poodle is you can size them to your living space.

Toy Poodles need daily exercise to maintain a healthy weight and stay fit. Even though these dogs are small, they have an abundance of energy that needs to be released. Poodles were often used as sporting or hunting dogs, so they have a lot of gas in the tank. Be sure to play with your Poodle and offer a range of stimulation and activities.

Poodles are extremely intelligent. The Toy Poodle isn’t suitable for hunting or sporting, but they retained the intelligence and perception of their sporting dog ancestors. Toy Poodles train well and even compete in agility circuits in some countries.

All Poodles including the Toy Poodle are single-coated dogs. They don’t shed much seasonally like some other breeds with double coats. People with allergies love Poodles since they don’t really irritate sensitivities to dander and fur.

Poodles are not very talkative compared to some other breeds, but they will bark to let you know what’s on their mind. Strangers and wildlife will pique their interest, but they shouldn’t be howling all night.
